Note from the Program Director
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has recognised that there is an urgent need to train Clinician-Scientists in Oral Health Research. Many professors in dental faculties will soon retire, and there are very few well-trained individuals available to fill the empty positions. Indeed, we lack well-trained clinical researchers who can provide the necessary evidence to develop and support the treatments that could help our patients. To meet these needs, our training program aims to provide financial assistance to health care clinicians from all fields who are enrolled in university research training programs (graduate and post-doctoral studies) and whose research topics involve oral health. We also offer a one-week program each summer that is open to any graduate trainee or university faculty member who wishes to attend. The courses are designed to provide information that is not usually taught in formal classrooms, such as practical ways to develop and organise a research project using management principles. Please take a moment to look through our website, and do not hesitate to contact us if you would like any additional information. Sincerely yours, Professor Jocelyne Feine |
